We kicked off our Christmas festivities tonight! It’s our first Christmas together as a Girl Scout daisy troop so we wanted to do something festive together of course. Since moving to Dayton, I had never been to Carillon Historical Park. So when I saw they had a special Christmas display open for the season, we figured now was as good as ever to check it out!
Between Santa and Mrs. Claus, the mini & full size train displays, and a huge carousel- the girls were in heaven.
Such a neat little place. It was a little bit busy- so we really didn’t get a chance to stop and discover all that the park truly had to offer. There were displays of History all throughout the park. Old school houses, a church. Carillon card company, and an old Sunoco Gas station. All adorned with twinkly lights to get you in the Christmas spirit.
I will definitely have to make it a point to bring Amelia and Max back during the daylight when they can fully grasp what is all around them. It took us about 2 hours to get through everything- and that was walking at a pretty brisk pace without looking at every detail. It’s tough with a group of 10 five year olds who are just excited to see the next stop. They were all excited to write their letters to Santa, slide down some “candy cane slopes”, and cross over lighted bridge. But the real star of the show, wan giant light up tree, right near the entrance. It’s a beautiful site to see!
If you’re looking for something simple, yet full of intriguing displays, bringing plenty of Christmas joy, check out Carillon park!!
